(ANSA) - PODGORICA - Sudden cooling of relations between Montenegro and Russia , after the Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic - during his recent visit to Washington - called for a rapid integration of Montenegro into NATO and into the EU, and has supported EU sanctions against Moscow due to Ukrainian crisis.

In the aftermath of a highly critical stance of the Russian Foreign Ministry on Djukanovic's talks with U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, Podgorica's responded today, rejecting the allegations of 'unfriendly attitude' towards Moscow.

''What Djukanovic said during talks with U.S. officials is in line with Montenegro's national interests and our goals of joining NATO and the EU, with no anti-Russian intention'', the Montenegrin Foreign Ministry stated. (ANSA).
