Green economy keeps growing in Austria

In 2012, turnover up 8.2% and employment up +1.1%

(ANSA) - TRIESTE - In 2012, the sector of environmental goods and services in Austria has experienced a new growth, with a turnover up by 8, 2% and employed up 1,1% over the previous year.

This news was reported in a press release issued by 'Statistik Austria', the Austrian national statistical office. The total number of employees in the sector was 173.702 in 2012, accounting for 4.8% of the total labour force recorded during the year. This Sector, Statistik Austria underlined, ''is particularly affected by the use of renewable energy'', which generated 50% of revenue and 38% of the total workforce employed in the sector, in particular engaged in activities related to renewable energy production and related technologies, biofuel, eco-buildings (low energy consumption) and building insulation.
