Gas: Serbia, South Stream works will start this summer

Head of Gazprom, we pay attention to environmental issues

(ANSA) - BELGRADE - The construction of the Serbian section of the South Stream pipeline, joint project of Gazprom-Eni intended to carry Russian gas to Europe, by avoiding transit countries such as Ukraine, is going to start this summer.

According to Leonid Ciugunov, project officer of Gazprom, all the legal steps concerning the rights to ownership with regard to lands affected by the pipeline construction have already been taken. In order to construct the Serbian section, stressed the Russian manager underlined, a particular attention was paid to environmental issues, by using less polluting technologies and materials.
