(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 26 GEN - ''We should develop MSC and the world of containers and strengthen our relations with the Austrian forwarders, who are very capable''. These are the expectations expressed by Zeno D'Agostino, President of Port System Authority of the Eastern Adriatic Sea, Port of Trieste, during the resentation of the harbor to Austrian operators at the Italian Embassy in Vienna today. A special meeting between two cities, Trieste and Vienna, among which ''historical and cultural ties have been significant and strong'' for centuries, thus representing something to revive and strengthen especially from the economic point of view. ''Thee world of ro-ro is bypassing Austria, therefore, I wish the sector of containers with Vienna could be increased'', D'Agostino continued, pointing out that ''this year some direct connections with Austria have already been strengthened''. The meeting, sponsored by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and organized with the Italian-German Chamber of Commerce, has captured the attention of ,many operators: more than 240 people have registered, far more than expected. This means that ''there is a mutual need for dialogue between Trieste and Vienna'', the president of the Authority underlined. Moreover, 35 percent of trains departing from Trieste harbour are managed with partners Austrians, and this shows ''an already strong integration with Austrian railnetwork. To Trieste, ''not only Bavaria, but also Austria is a very important market. ''We want to show what has been done in recent years and let everybody know the growth potential the port can have for the Austrian market'', D'Agostino said. (ANSA).
