Film on Greek-Turkish border, fishermen between Malta-Lampedusa

26 September, 19:54
(ANSA) - NAPLES - The theme of borders, concerning the flight from wars and emigration, is at the center of the 18th edition of the Naples Film Festival starting Monday through October 2 to be held across the port city in areas including the Metropolitan cinema, PAN (Palazzo delle Arti), the French cultural institute and the Cervantes Institute.

The international competition Europe & Mediterranean, the heart of the festival directed by Mario Violini, presents five European films from countries with limited visibility in the sector (Malta, Serbia, Greece, Turkey) with impassioned stories on the difficulty of living in war zones as well as on integration and marginalization.

The films are all premiering in Italy (with the exception of Enclave, best movie at the Bergamo Film Meeting 2016) and will be screened at the French Institute as of September 26 in their original language with Italian subtitles. The general coordinator of the festival, Giuseppe Colella, will chair the jury including students from the Campania region around Naples.

The new sections include ''Nuovo Cinema Italia'' with five interesting films which have not been distributed on commercial networks or have circulated only in a few copies. The section Schermo Napoli will be on short films and documentaries by up-and-coming filmmakers. (ANSA).
