(ANSA) - ROME - Being aware of the organizations that are
involved in the diffusion of Italian language, understanding the
potential of its expansion in the German market and clarifying
the language's prospects in the context of an
inter-institutional dialogue. These are the main goals of the
''General Assembly of Italian Language in Germany'', convention
which will be held on April 8 and is organized by the Institute
of Italian Studies at Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, in
collaboration with the Italian teachers' association in Germany,
the Italian Cultural Institute and the Consulate General of
Italy in Munich. Germany, with 309,680 students, is the country
that has the world's highest number of students of Italian
language, followed by Australia (207,921 students) and the
United States (142,970), according to the report ''Status of the
Italian teaching across the world'', presented in Florence on
October 20, during the General Assembly of Italian language in
the world. (ANSA).
