(ANSA) - MILAN, NOVEMER 9 - Expo Milano 2015 achieved good
visibility in foreign web and print media, according to the
media monitoring body Data Stampa, which has been active since
the 1980s.
From May 1 to October 31 it studied over 6,000 articles on a
daily basis, the major foreign online and offline outlets. The
analysis showed that all continents covered the events: Europe
52.2%, the Americas 25.1%, Asia 14.8%, Africa 7.8%, and Oceania
(only Australia) 0.01%.
By looking at the maps divided by continent, Data Stampa
noted that the countries producing the largest number of
articles on the Expo were: in AFRICA, the Democratic Republic of
Congo (1.2% of the world total of web and print articles),
followed by Kenya and Angola with 0.7%; in the AMERICAS, the US
(7.1%) and Brazil (4.2%); in ASIA, China (3.4%) followed by the
UAE and Russia (1.9%); in EUROPE (Italy excluded), France
(14.4%) and Spain (12.1%).
The major dailies that covered the Expo were then taken into
considered on the basis of the average daily readership. Of El
Paìs, Le Monde, Süddeutsche Zeitung, The Times and the New York
Times, the Spanish and French outlets showed the most interest
in the first month of the events, the opening ceremony and the
presentations of the pavilions. The attention rose again at the
end of the Expo.
The ''wordclouds'' - which show the words appearing most
frequently in the articles considered - reveal that in addition
to 'Expo' (and some of the most obvious words such as
'pavilion', 'universal', 'planet' and 'food') there were 'Italy'
and Italian cities. Some of the most frequent words also show
the major international concerns, such as 'crisis', 'Greece',
'Islam', 'Iran', 'migrant', 'economy' and 'work'. (ANSA).
