Fisheries: Blue Sea Land success at Expo

Event ends in Mazara. District's products in Milan

(ANSA) - MAZARA DEL VALLO (TRAPANI), OCTOBER 23 - The fourth edition of Blue Sea Land, the Sicilian Expo of food districts of the Mediterranean, Africa and the Middle East has ended. Some 42 foreign delegations and 80 buyers attended the event focusing on the blue economy.

The fisheries participated in the world's fair as part of the week dedicated to Sicilian Districts organized by the Sicilian region.

Meetings, cooking shows, laboratories for students and video screenings have been scheduled to get visitors acquainted with Sicily's productive districts.

Sicilian fisheries met with great success at Expo, including the anchovies produced by Carlino and Bluemar Sciacca, tuna by Nino Castiglione, mackerel and tuna by Flott, crayfish from Mazara del Vallo by Asaro Fish and smoked swordfish by Altamarea.

''For companies from the district it was a great occasion to promote'' their products, said Giovanni Tumbiolo, president of the fisheries production district. ''We saw great interest for our products in the activities we organized and tastings. This is the strength of the Sicilian fisheries sector. With Blue Sea Land and Milan Expo, the world has understood the excellent quality of our products''.
