(ANSA) - MILAN, OCTOBER 22 - The sea and fishing of Sicilian islands will be at the forefront from Friday to Monday at EXPO 2015 at the bio-Mediterranean cluster.

Four days of events, activities and tastings to promote the sea and its traditions, the sea and its peple, the sea as culture, food and recreation.

The enhancement of territory through colour, taste and fragrances associated to culture aims to develop the tourism culture and attract visitors in new forms, diversifying the breadth of opportunities and experiences.

The initiative, promoted by Gac - Gruppo di Azione Costiera Isole di Sicilia ( Coastal Action Group of Sicilian Islands) aims to boost the competitiveness of these terroritories as tourist destinations promoting the sea, as a resource unique in its diversity.

The event "Pescebello Fish Tour" was organised last summer with the same objective. It consisted of five stops in five Sicilian islands Ustica, Pantelleria, Lipari, Salina e Favignana, with fishing and local cuisine as a guiding theme.

These events are tied to the tasting of local fishing products and they involved participants tintillating the five senses and they seek to support efforts by local institutions to define a unified model of promotion and branding for these areas so as to enhance cultural heritage, both material and immaterial also shining a light on unique typical products.
