Greece, Trans Adriatic Pipeline construction begins
To bring Azerbaijani gas in EU
17 May, 11:45The new pipeline aims at bringing the Azerbaijani gas to the EU, guaranteeing a major diversification of energy sources. With an initial capacity of ten billion cubic metres per year, the 878 km long pipeline is expected to start operating in 2020, transporting gas from the Shah Deniz II field in Azerbaijan to Europe. Tap will connect to the Trans Anatolian Pipeline (Tanap) at the Turkey-Greece border, crossing the Greek territory for around 480 kilometres before entering Albania and then the Adriatic Sea, finally arriving to southern Italy.
