Gazprom might cut gas supply to Ukraine, Putin says

Unless new payment arrives over next days

25 February, 18:17
(ANSA) - MOSCA - Gazprom will suspend the supply of natural gas to Ukraine if further payments do not arrive over the next three to four days, said the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, while underlining that "it is clear that this can represent a threat to the transit of Russian methane towards Europe". However, Putin expressed the hope that extreme measures would not be necessary and that methane supply would not be interrupted, adding that the outcome depends on Ukraine. On his part, the CEO of Gazprom, Alexiei Miller, said that Kiev is still entitled to 219 million of cubic metres of pre-paid gas".
