Russia to redirect oil exports from Latvian to own ports

Ports of Ventspils, Riga at stake. Decision in November

(ANSA) - TRIESTE - Russia may redirect its oil product exports from Latvian ports to domestic ones next year, Deputy Minister of Energy, Kirill Molodtsov, said, Itar-Tas agency reported.

"The decision on directions and flows is made annually, and for the next year it will be in November," he precised.

According to the Federal Customs Service data, Russia currently exports 10 million tonnes of oil products through Latvian ports.

Russian oil companies have reportedly been looking to replace Latvian ports of Ventspils and Riga with domestic ones.

According to Vedomosti daily, head of the Russian department for oil and gas refining, Mikhail Gryaznov, had organised a meeting with leading oil companies on this topic earlier in October. (ANSA).
