(ANSA) - TRIESTE - The European Investment Bank (EIB) made available the first tranche (Eur 22.4 million), of the 136.5 million loan supporting the second phase of the project for restructuring and modernization of private residence buildings in "Sector 1" minicipality, Bucharest. The project will allow for 50% savings in energy required for heating, as specified in a note released by the EIB.

The programme supported by EIB represents one of the pillars of the Romanian Action Plan for energetic efficiency. By the end of the works, planned for 2017, a total of 406 buildings, hosting almost 19 thousand apartments, will be modernised. The overall energy savings will amount to around 190 GW per year.

The total cost of the programme is 182 million euros, 75% of which will be covered by EIB and 25% from the municipality's resources. (ANSA).
