(by Marco Patricelli) (ANSA) - PRAGUE - 'Vespa' is a universal symbol of 'made in Italy' surrounded by lights and mirrors that illuminate and reflect facets and contradictions of the 'Belpaese', seen through the prism of a camera: this is the symbol chosen for the 5th edition of MittelCinemaFest, scheduled to take place from November 30 to December 11, presented at the prestigious Luzern cinema in Prague.

A showcase of the recent and recent production of Italy's cinema, which is becoming more and more popular in the Czech audience, so that this year the distributors have started working on a preventive basis. Mirius Film Distribution wanted Simone Godano's 'Wife & husband' to be screened at the opening of the festival and their representative Martina Kalova announced the Czech version is scheduled for December 14. Film Europe chose 'The Place' by Paolo Genovese to seal the 2017 edition, with the non-random screening of 'Perfect Strangers', Kristyna Haklova highlighted.

The director of the Italian Cultural Institute, Giovanni Sciola, wanted to point out the festival's increasing popularity, not only in the capital city, but also in other major cities in the Czech Republic, such as Brno and Ostrava, hosting the projections in December. According to Ambassador Aldo Amati, ''the Festival has made Italy known and recognised for what it is, beyond certain phenomena and stereotypes, for its excellence, lifestyle and even its problems''. The secretary-general of the Italian-Czech Chamber of Commerce, Matteo Mariani, pointed out that culture can be a major economic driver , ''and that's why we believe in Mittelcinemafest and we are delighted by it''. Growth in attendance figures and widespread popularity show that this formula can be attractive and above all, that Italy's cinema, too often accused of provincialism, can instead express feelings and situations that go beyond the local cultural background. ''The films shown at the festival - Sciola added - go to Cannes and Venice.

'Fortunati' by Sergio Castellitto was also screened at the Karlovy Vary Festival''. The screenings are accompanied by meetings with the directors Marco and Antonio Manetti (also known in Italy for the popular television series ' Inspector Coliandro'), Silvia Luzi and Luca Bellino. At the festival close, a concert by Astor Piazzolla will be performed by the Bohuslav Martinu Orchestra in Zilin, directed by Walter Attanasi. (ANSA).
