Week is to open a path to integration of innovation policies
within the Adriatic-Ionian, Alpine and Danubian macro-regions,
which has never been mplemented so far. The week dedicated to
workshops and seminars opened today in Trieste will be ending on
September 30 in Area Science Park. The participants are 250 and

involved in the three macro-regions to set up a coordinated
common policy, in order to make a competitive innovation
breakthrough of these territories'' said opening the round table
Giovanni De Santi, Director of the Directorate Competences,
Joint Research Centre J(JRC) of the European Commission.
''Today - he added - there are projects, funding and
infrastructure, but we need a coordinated approach to be taken
up by policy makers, thanks to the boost coming straight from
the territories''. This concept was taken up by the President of
the Area Science Park Sergio Paoletti, who supported the idea of
coordinating the policies of the Smart Specialisation Strategies
(S3) at the macro regional level. The President of the Region
