(ANSA) - COSENZA, APR. 11 - Culture and historical and
documentary heritage can be effective promotional tools of the
territory and its products. This is the focus of the agreement
signed today by Klaus Algieri, president of Cosenza Chamber of
Commerce and Rita Fiordalisi, director of Cosenza National
Library. The deal's goal is ''to enhance mutual appreciation of
our book heritages, in order to encourage the historical
analysis of the local manufacturing sector, with the aim of
pooling resources and skills in the community's interest''.
''The wealth of knowledge which the National Library preserves -
president Algieri said - is a valuable resource for the
dissemination of our typicality. Documentary research allows to
reconstruct all the ties between the territory and each of its
products, making it possible to associate with the latter a
'cultural passport' that actually facilitates promotion and
exports, with positive effects not only on the turnover of
individual companies, but also in terms of territory awareness
and tourist, cultural and commercial attractiveness. For this
reason, the Chamber will disclose its book and documentary
heritage, made up of more than 3,000 volumes, and this heritage
will be classified with the help of Cosenza National Library and
will be made accessible for all as soon as possible''.
''The two entities - statement - are planning to trigger
interesting territorial animation initiatives, cultural events,
as well as tours, linked to the promotion of all the resources
of goods and places that foster close cooperation between
institutions. The goal is to schedule training activities and
enhance social, economic and tourism development. We are also
planning the organisation of cultural events, through the
involvement of educational institutions within school-work
transition programmes, and we intend to digitise, if possible,
all the texts and documents found in the library of the Chamber
of Commerce, in accordance with the requirements of the National
library''.(ANSA).
