Romania: up to 1 bn euros tender for passenger trains

It includes maintenance for up to 30 years

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, APRIL 5 - The Romanian Railway Reform Authority (ARF) launched a public tender for the purchase from 40 to 80 passenger trains and their maintenance over a period of 15 to 30 years, the specialized portal Romania Insider reported.

The estimated maximum value of the contract is around 957 million euros, not including VAT, or about 12 million euros per piece. This includes also maintenance services over a period of 30 years, Romania Insider added. The first train should be delivered within 24 months.

"The bidders must prove that they delivered at least 40 such trains over the past three years and that they provided maintenance services of more than 24 million euros", over the same three-year period, with the "trains must be able to reach a maximum speed of 160 km/h" and "a capacity of at least 200 seats," the portal informed.
