(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 25 GEN - The Czech Republic and Romania are among the countries that recorded the most significant improvements in the seventh Bloomberg Innovation Index, recently made public.

The 2019 Index analysed several criteria, including research and development spending, manufacturing capability and concentration of high-tech public companies, Bloomberg said.

The Czech economy has improved its ranking by three places between 2018 and 2019, reaching the 25th position, while Romania was ranked 29th in the global index (+6 positions). In the Bloomberg 2019 Index, the best placed country from Central- and Eastern was Poland (22nd, -1), while Slovenia got the 31st place, Hungary 32nd (-5), Greece 35th (-4), Estonia 36th (stable), Lithuania 37th (-3), Slovakia 39th (-1), Bulgaria 41th (stable), Latvia 42nd (-2), Croatia 44th (-2), Serbia 49th (-5).

Among 2019's ranked economies, one of the biggest losers was Ukraine, which together with Tunisia" fell out of the top 50," Bloomberg said.

On the opposite end of the Index, "Germany almost caught six-time champion South Korea on the strength of added-value from manufacturing and research intensity, much of it built around industrial giants such as Volkswagen AG, Robert Bosch GmbH and Daimler AG," Bloomberg noted. (ANSA).
