Germany: unemployment rate hits record low of 5.2%

Employment agency, never so low since reunification

(ANSA) - BERLIN, JANUARY 4 - In Germany, the unemployment rate in 2018 hit its record low of 5,2% since the country was reunified, with a 0.5% decrease, compared to 2017, when it was 5.7%, according to the annual report issued by the Federal Employment Agency. In 2018, around 2 million and 340,000 people were unemployed, 193,000 less than the previous year.
