Romania: 1 mln workers needed to keep economic growth

To be included in the labour force by 2021

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, OCTOBER 24 - Romania needs one million workers to be included in the labour force by 2021 to keep the current economic growth, according to the report 'Workforce Barometer', produced by PwC Romania and presented by the Coalition for Romania's Development, the portal Business Review reported. The report revealed that Romania is among the EU countries with the highest share - more than 34% of working-age population out of the labor market, with only Croatia and Italy doing worse. The estimates of the Workforce Barometer coincide with those made by the Romanian Finance minister Eugen Teodorovici in August, who spoke about a labour deficit of one million employees, to be solved also by attracting more foreign workers.
