(ANSA) - LJUBLJANA, MAY 15 - Yaskawa Electric Corporation, the
world's largest manufacturer of industrial robots, has signed an
agreement with the Slovenian Ministry of Economic Development
and Technology and with the municipality of Koevje, in south
east of the country, for an investment aimed at further
expanding the production facilities whose foundation stone was
laid a year ago.
This new investment should employ up to 250 people and is worth
between 20 and 30mn euros, with a state aid amounting to 5.6
million euros. The goal of the Japanese company is to produce
6,000 robots per year by 202, and set up a research and
development centre in order to improve cooperation with the
engineering faculties of the University of Ljubljana.
Japan's giant, specializing in electric motors and industrial
automation products, signed an agreement in March 2017 to build
the first industrial robotics factory in Europe in the Pokolpje
region, not far from the border with Croatia. Through this new
investment, Yaskawa will provide up to 500 jobs in a region that
until recently had one of the highest unemployment rates in
Slovenia. (ANSA).
