Labour: productivity rises in CEE, wages not growing enough
Strong gap in Croatia, Poland, Hungary, Romania
19 April, 18:26According to ETUI and ETUC, between 2000 and 2016 the increase of productivity in the EU was 10%, while wages increased only by 2,5% in the same period.
In Croatia, the productivity increased by 42% between 2000 and 2016, while wages by 11%. In Poland, productivity increased by 64%, wages by 32%. In Hungary, Romania and Greece "real wages went down in the last 16 years, while productivity increased," ETUI and ETUC said in a statement. Productivity increased in Hungary by 19%, in Romania by 10%, in Greece by 2%, while wages decreased respectively by 5%, 15% and 10%. The trend of the increase in wages not matching the increase in productivity is common also in Germany, Belgium, Austria, Spain and the Netherlands, ETUI and ETUC said. (ANSA).
