(ANSA) - LJUBLJANA - Slovenia's GDP increased by 4.9% in the
third quarter compared to the same period of 2016 and grew by 1%
over the second quarter, according to the country's National
Statistical Office (Surs). The office said Slovenia is on the
right track to meet the forecasts of the European Commission
for a GDP growth between 4.7 and 4.9%. Exports rose by 12%, much
faster than imports (10%), leading to a trade surplus of 11.6%,
the highest level ever. Growth in private consumption and
employment continues, with nearly a million people employed,
especially in the manufacturing and business sectors. (ANSA).
