(ANSA) - ROME - ''Our meeting was very useful. We examined both
the excellent bilateral relations between Italy and Bulgaria,
and the commitment we are expecting at European level in the
coming months. The starting point is represented not only by
long-standing ties, but also by positive current relations'',
said Italy's premier Paolo Gentiloni at the end of the meeting,
held at Palazzo Chigi, with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko
Borissov.
''We are proud to have a trade which is close to 5bn between
Italy and Bulgaria, which is well balanced between the two
countries, and this is always a good sign. On this basis, we may
also increase investment: Bulgaria is really stable, its economy
is growing and the whole country is preparing for the future''.
''Our countries have in common geopolitical and European
interest. Starting on January 1, Bulgaria will be the EU
president for a very important semester, because the coming
months will be crucial to the Union, the premier underlined.
