EU-19: retail trade continues to decrease, down 0.5% in Aug.

Year-on-year up 1.2% in EU-28, up 2% in EU-19

(ANSA) - BRUSSELS - In August, retail trade decreased again in the eurozone, where a 0.5% drop has been recorded since the 0.3% decline recorded in July. These data were issued byEurostat. In the EU-28, however, the volume remained stable both in August and July. The year-on-year index increased by 1.2% in the EU-19 and by 2% in the EU-28 countries, where the biggest monthly decline was recorded in Portugal (down 1.3%), Austria (down 1%) and Belgium (down 0.9%), whereas the highest increases were recorded in Romania (up 2.3%), Great Britain (up 1.9%) and Malta (up 1.5%).
