Tourism, Greece sites and museums see more visitors in 2014

Last year increased by 21.9% to 9.95 mln compared with 2013

(ANSA) - ATHENS - Visitors to Greek archaeological sites last year increased by 21.9% to 9.95 million compared with 2013, as Greek Travel Pages (GTP) website reports quoting data released on Thursday by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (Elstat).

Revenue from receipts rose by 13.5% and reached 42.86 million euros. Likewise, during the January-December 2014 period, museums in Greece saw a 22.5% increase (4.1 million) in visitor numbers and a 27.9% increase in revenue from entrance tickets (11.79 million euros). According to Elstat, in December 2014 alone, the country's museums saw an 19.3% increase in visitors and a 30.2% increase in receipts, compared with the same month in 2013. Visitors to archaeological sites last December were up by 33.8% and receipts rose by 35%, compared with the same month in 2013. (ANSA).
