Slovenia's GDP grows by 2,6%, export up by 6,3% in 2014

Economic recovery in line with most optimistic forecasts

(ANSA) - LJUBLJANA - The Slovenian economy grew by 2.6% in 2014 according to the data released by the National Statistics Office, showing an economic recovery in line with the most optimistic forecasts. The country's GDP grew notably thanks to the growth of export (+6.3% compared to 2013) and to the growth of public investments in the infrastructures sector (+3.6% in 2014). While further growth of export is foreseen in 2015, the public investments are expected to stagnate.

The GDP growth of over 2.5% will have its effect on public expenditures over the next months and years, namely in terms of the alignment of pensions and state subsidies such as maternity and childbirth. (ANSA)
