(ANSA) - UDINE, OCT. 20 - The Confartigianato Puglia (which represents 26,000 companies) is interested in the 'solar cooling' technology, which allows the production of cold water from energy collected from the Sun, to be used primarily in the tourist sector . Contacts are underway between the association and Area Science Park Trieste, through Adriacold project, which has already carried out a cooling plant in Italy and in some other European sites. This is what emerged during the second day of the 4th AdriaWealth Convention, held at Area Science Park Trieste and dedicated to sustainable tourism. AdriaWealth is a project that aims to collect and capitalize on the experiences of 78 projects financed by IPA programme with over 300 million, so as to develop sustainable tourism in the Eusair Adriatic-Ionian Region, which includes Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, Greece, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Albania, Serbia and Montenegro. The Apulian Public Theatre is AdriaWealth's leading partner. An agreement between Confartigianato Puglia and ASP is likely to be reached, and by means of this deal the solar cooling technology could be able to spread throughout Italy. This system can be used in the tourism sector, for example by installing cooling plants in hotels, bungalows and other accomodation facilities. Marcello Guaiana, strategic project manager at Area Science Park and responsible for AdriaWealth project on behalf of the research centre, cited the examples of Qatar and Egypt, where the solar cooling technology is used for cooling purposes in the shopping malls. ''Many companies - Lino Manosperta, head of AdriaWealth project, said - are interested in acquiring the know-how and in producing the 'machine'''. Manosperta also took stock of AdriaWealth project, calling it ''a positive asset for the Adriatic region''. Todays' conference is the fourth of five Conventions, the last of which will take place in Albania, along with workshops and an exhibition featuring photographers who took part in an international competition.
