(ANSA) - TRIESTE, JAN 25 - Trieste mayor Roberto Dipiazza
received in the Town Hall the President of the State Chamber
(Parliament) of the Republic of Slovenia, Dejan Zidan, who first
met, accompanied by a parliamentary delegation, the Regional
Council of Friuli Venezia Giulia. Trieste mayor, a press release
reported, explained to the President Zidan the main aspects of
the current geo-economic situation of the municipality of
Trieste He then told the president of the Slovenian Parliament
he's hoping for the abolition of the ''vignette'' (motorway
toll) on the section of the highway connecting the border
between Italy and Slovenia to the town of Isola/Izola. The
objective is to facilitate cross-border traffic between nearby
and immediately connected locations such as, in addition to
Izola, Capodistria/Koper, Portorose/Portoroz and Pirano/Piran,
which are the destinations and the points of departure of daily
traffic and interchange with Trieste. ''This measure - Dipiazza
underlined - would bring big benefit to all these places and to
the current situation of connections and economic and human
relationships in this area. This measure woild be similar to
what was done, with a big benefit for resident communities, by
making the recent decision to ban trucks from the Erpelle-Kozina
area''. (ANSA).
