(ANSA) - TRIESTE, JAN 24 - A memorandum will be signed in
Ljubljana this autumn to initiate a joint discussion between the
Regional Council of Friuli Venezia Giulia and Slovenia's
National Assembly on the proposals of law involving the two
territories. Among the discussion topics are local authorities,
environment, renewable energy and culture. The meeting held
today in Trieste between the President of the Fvg Council, Piero
Mauro Zanin, and the President of Slovenia's National Assembly,
Dejan Zidan, who was accompanied by two MPs, Meira Hot and
Felice Ziza, had the goal to lay the foundations for this
memorandum. ''We must rebuild the Europe of the peoples, regions
and communities'', Zanin said at the end of the meeting. Zidan
asked for a simplification of the laws to elect the
representatives of Slovenian minorities in Italy. Zidan called
the memorandum ''an important proposal, given that the two
assemblies are legislative bodies and we can see that their
members have a strong desire for an exchange of views with the
communities''. ''I am very happy with this meeting,'' Zanin
said, adding that ''Europe must no longer be that of markets and
banks, ruled by finance. It's time to abandon this unworthy way
of thinking, a relationship based on numbers cannot express the
more complex relationship between European citizens. This
collaboration between communities, peoples and those who live in
neighbouring countries, is a tool to build a common path. We
want to establish laws which are useful for this new European
community'', he said. (ANSA).
