Agriculture: in Estonia, Romania strong increase in output

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 17 NOV - The value of agricultural output increased in almost all countries in the European Union in 2017, Eurostat informed.

Among the countries that recorded the highest increases in the agricultural production in relative terms were Estonia (+18.2%), Romania (+13.2%) and Poland (+11.1%). The total agricultural output in the European Union increased by 6.2% in 2017, compared to 2016.

In contrast, Eurostat noted, the value of agricultural output decreased in Slovenia by 4.7% in 2017, the strongest decrease together with Malta (-3.1%). The production remained stable in Croatia and Slovakia. Poland, with 24.9 billion euro (6% of the EU total) and Romania (17.5 billion euro, or 4% of the total) were among the EU countries with the highest agricultural output in 2017. With 72.6 billion euros, 17% of the EU total, France had the highest agricultural production among EU Member States. Data from Eurostat show that the agricultural production increased in 2017 also in Lithuania (+10.8%), Latvia (+8.1%), Bulgaria (+5.2%) and Greece (+5.0%). (ANSA).
