Slovenia: 2.2% increase in pensions, frozen since 2010

108mn fund approved, by April

19 February, 19:17
(ANSA) - LJUBLJANA, FEB 19 - Slovenia's Pension and Disability Insurance Institute (Zpiz) has chosen to allocate 108mn euro to increase by 2,2% the pension or disability support for about 650,000 citizens. The increase, passed today by the Council of the Institute, is part of the plan designed to adjust pensions, whose growth was frozen since 2010, due to austerity measures and public spending cuts. The adjustment will be paid at the end of the month; in spring, an extraordinary increase by 1.1% was announced. The meeting of the new Zpiz Council, made up of 27 members, was attended for the first time by a representative of the Slovenian student organization, that make a 1,5% contribution to the pension fund, thanks to the lighter regime for their professional performances.
