(ANSA) - BELGRADE, JULY 23 - Kosovo President Hashim Thaci has enthusiastically commented on the 9th anniversary of the verdict through which the International Court of Justice confirmed the right of Pristina to independence. "It was the greatest international victory of the Republic of Kosovo, which paved the way for strengthening international subjectivity, forever marking our right to self-determination", said Thaci cited by the Serbian media. This decision, he added, "paved the way for Kosovo to join Nato, the EU, and the UN". Foreign Minister Behgjet Pacolli also recalled this anniversary, saying that with the decision of the International Court of Justice a "strong message was sent, against all the voices opposed to Kosovo's independence". On July 22, 2010, the International Court of Justice established that the declaration of independence proclaimed by Kosovo on February 17, 2008, violated neither the international law nor the 1244 resolution launched in 1999 by the UN security council.
