(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 27 AGO - At least three major international companies have expressed interested in participating in the privatization process of the Novi Sad port, on the Danube river, in Serbia, the specialized portal SeeNews reported today.

Among the companies willing to participate in the privatization process are the German company Rhenus Logistics, the Valona Group and the Dubai-based DP World, the government official Veljko Kovacevic revealed, SeeNews informed.

The government plans to call a tender for the privatization of the Novi Sad river port in September, Kovacevic added, specifying that the harbor has a real capacity of 2.5 million tonnes annually, while it currently handles only one million tonnes.

According to Kovacevic, the Serbian government hopes to find a partner ready to invest 15 million euro in the construction of new docks, silos and mechanization, to speed up the development of the Novi Sad port. (ANSA).
