Kosovo: media, Germany wants special EU representative

'Mogherini does not have enough time'

20 June, 14:13
(ANSA) - BELGRADE - According to a Serbian daily newspaper, Germany is about to propose that the one who acts as mediator in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue is no longer the EU High Representative Federica Mogherini, but a special EU representative, appointed by Mogherini. The reason for this proposal, Blic reported, is the large amount 'of issues and dossiers which the High Representative is dealing with'. Belgrade-based newspaper reported that, according to Germany, Federica Mogherini does have enough time to pay due attention to Kosovo and cope with the thorny issue of the dialogue for the normalization of relations between Pristina and Belgrade ''The idea is that The EU's diplomatic chief should choose the new special representative'' for dialogue on Kosovo, said a source cited by Blic. A new round of talks between Belgrade and Pristina, which has been held since 2011 with the EU mediation, will take place in Brussels on Sunday. Federica Mogherini has invited the presidents of Serbia and Kosovo, Aleksandar Vucic and Hashim Thaci. (ANSA).
