(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, JUNE 19 - The recent increase in migratory flows ''in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Albania and Montenegro is not yet alarming, today's objective was to offer our support and strengthen our joint commitment to avoiding deterioration in the local situation'': the EU migration commissioner Dimitris Avramopoulos said at the end of the meeting held in Brussels with the interior ministers of the six Western Balkans, convened to discuss cooperation in the management of migratory flows.

''I did not convene this meeting to discuss a crisis, we are far from the situation we were dealing with three years ago, our joint working has led to tangible results both on the political and on the operational level'', said Avramopoulos, confirming the EU's commitment to assisting the six Balkan governments and encouraging the understanding between countries to strengthen the protection of the EU borders ''while maintaining freedom of movement''. ''Ensuring effective border management and stemming irregular migration flows, in order to avoid a new crisis, remains the top priority for the Union and for the Western Balkans'', he reiterated. The Commissioner has then announced that the next summit between the EU and the Western Balkan interior ministers will be held in Tirana on 4 and 5 October.
