(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 08 MAR - The Mayor of Pristina, Shpend
Ahmeti, one of the most influential figures of the Vetevendosje
(Self-Determination) opposition movement, has resigned from the
party, today's morning edition of the 'Media Observer' of the UN
mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) reported.
In a letter, Ahmeti said that "that the cause for which I
joined Vetevendosje is not there anymore," adding that
"disagreements have damaged the spirit, trust and consequently,
the cause." "I do not believe anymore that the organisation, in
the current situation, is the fastest way toward change," Ahmeti
noted.
The Serbian news agency Beta said today that more than ten
MPs have left the party recently, while the news portal Balkan
Insight suggested the the former Vetevendosje's members could
form a new party in the future. (ANSA).
