(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 08 MAR - The Mayor of Pristina, Shpend Ahmeti, one of the most influential figures of the Vetevendosje (Self-Determination) opposition movement, has resigned from the party, today's morning edition of the 'Media Observer' of the UN mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) reported. In a letter, Ahmeti said that "that the cause for which I joined Vetevendosje is not there anymore," adding that "disagreements have damaged the spirit, trust and consequently, the cause." "I do not believe anymore that the organisation, in the current situation, is the fastest way toward change," Ahmeti noted. The Serbian news agency Beta said today that more than ten MPs have left the party recently, while the news portal Balkan Insight suggested the the former Vetevendosje's members could form a new party in the future.
