(ANSA) - BRUXELLES - Serbia is "ready" to open five new
negotiating chapters with the EU next December to continue on
its way to the EU membership, Serbia's Prime Minister, Ana
Brnabic, told journalists after the 4th EU-Serbia Stabilisation
and Association Council in Brussels. "Today we presented our
negotiation position on Chapter 13 on fisheries," the Prime
Minister said. Brnabic also "expects" some of these chapters,
"three or four", "to be opened in December".
Negotiating Chapters 6 on Company law, 30 on External Relations,
33 on Financial and Budgetary Dervices) and 9 on Financial
Services have been mentioned, sources of the Commission say.
Belgrade has to use "the next six, seven months in the best
possible way, in the interest of the whole region," Brnabic
added. EU integration "is the main strategic objective" of the
Serbian government, and the Prime Minister explained that "now
that we (Belgrade) have achieved fiscal and economic stability,
we can focus on other issues such as the implementation of the
reforms on the rule of law and justice, for chapters 23 and 24
". Brnabic also focused on the dialogue between Belgrade and
Pristina: "This is an issue of national interest" and "I invite
Pristina to sit down and create the Community of Serbian
Municipalities" in Kosovo, she said.(ANSA).
