ESOF2020: Trieste is again a bridge between East and West

Eastern European countries play a key role in the event

(ANSA) - TRIESTE, FEBRUARY 11 - Central and Eastern Europe will play a key role in ESOF 2020, with numerous proposals coming from the area on the occasion of the ninth edition of the EuroScience Open Forum, the event that from 5 to 9 July will turn Trieste into the capital of science.

On 3-4 July, during the European Conference of Scientific Journalists (ECSJ 2020), a special meeting will engage media from Central and Eastern European countries.

ESOF 2020 will address issues such as sustainability, nutrition, quality of life and health, digitalization and artificial intelligence. "Open Knowledge, Fair Future" is the motto of the event during which Trieste will host 170 events selected from among the more than 600 proposals received from all over the world.

Over 4,000 participants will arrive in Trieste from around 80 countries and 850 speakers are expected at the Forum, a biennial event dedicated to scientific research and innovation, whose program was presented today at a press conference. Among the most anticipated guests are Didier Queloz, Nobel Prize in Physics 2019 along with Michael Mayor, who are working on the detection of exoplanets, Ada Yonath, Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2009, Fabiola Gianotti, current general manager of CERN in Geneva, and Alessio Figalli, Italian mathematician who won the Fields medal in 2018.
