Romania: GDP growth 4.4% in second quarter

Commission forecasts said +4.0% this year

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, OCTOBER 10 - Romania recorded a 4.4% growth of its economy in the second quarter of 2019, compared to the same period of 2018, the Romanian National Institute of Statistics (INS) said today. In the first half of 2019, the Romanian GDP increased by 4.6% against the same period of the previous year, INS added. According to the last economic forecast of the European Commission, following an annual growth of 4.1% in 2018, the Romanian economy will grow 4.0% this year and 3.7% in 2020.

Private consumption remains the main driver of growth, together with investments, in particular in construction. (ANSA).
