(ANSA) - BELGRADE, NOVEMBER 28 - Serbia could consider to take a 250-million-euro loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to finance the construction of a planned National stadium in Belgrade, the specialized portal SeeNews reported, quoting information from the government's 2019 draft budget, posted on the website of the Serbian Parliament.

"The new budget envisages the construction of a national stadium," Serbian Finance minister Sinisa Mali confirmed. "UEFA architects are still working on a conceptual solution, they are looking at the necessary infrastructure and the capacity of the stadium. We expect this to take two or three months," Mali added in a statement.

During a recent meeting between the Prime ministers of Greece, Bulgaria and Romania and the Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic, the four countries expressed interest to submit a joint bid for both the football Euro 2028 championship and for the World Cup 2030.

More loans from the EIB, the draft budget shows, will be used in 2019 for the construction of Nis-Merdare motorway and the for a gas interconnector to Bulgaria. (ANSA).
