Food: in Romania, Poland and Bulgaria lowest prices in EU

But Gdp per capita still much under EU levels

(ANSA) - BELGRADE - In 2017, Romania, Poland and Bulgaria registered the lowest food and non-alcoholic beverages price levels in the European Union, according to Eurostat estimates.

Eurostat said that price levels ranged from 62% of the EU average in Romania, 65% in Poland and 73% in Bulgaria. Level of food prices lower than the EU average were registered also in Hungary and Lithuania (82%), Czech Republic (86%), Slovakia (91%), Estonia (94%), Latvia (95%) and Croatia (96%). Bulgaria (56% of the EU average), ahead of Romania (69%) and Hungary (70%) registered also the lowest price levels for alcoholic beverages and tobacco. Restaurants and hotels are also the cheapest in Bulgaria (45% of EU average), Romania (53%) and the Czech Republic (60%). (ANSA).
