(ANSA) - WARSAW, DECEMBER 4 - "Italy - Poland, a wonderful
100-year journey together" is the title of the book which was
presented at the Italian Embassy in Warsaw at the end of
numerous events organized to celebrate the beginning of
diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1919, "when
Poland freed itself from the chains of divisions and joined
again the ranks of independent European countries," ambassador
Aldo Amati wrote in the introduction.
The presentation was attended by many personalities including
Anna Anders, Poland's ambassador to the Quirinale, who spoke of
the contribution made by her father General Wladyslaw Anders in
the liberation of Italy from the German occupiers. It was even
recalled that during WW2 the Polish government, then in exile in
London, in the name of good bilateral relations has not formally
declared war on Italy. The 400-page book published both in
Polish and Italian by professor Jerzy Miziolek, former director
of the Warsaw National Museum, and Roberto Cincotta, director of
the Italian Cultural Institute, in collaboration with Barbara
Rejmak, is a collection of essays concerning bilateral
diplomatic, political, cultural, economic relations, accompanied
by photographs of an era and a valuable Polish and Italian
bibliography. On the cover, a graphic dating back to 1927
showing Fiat cars and the car manufacturer's showroom at the
Hotel Europejski, at the heart of Warsaw. (ANSA).
