(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 21 APR - The implementation of new noise-cancelling panels that are able to transform acoustic energy into electrical energy is the idea that led the team ''The Silencers'' to win the first #AttractYoung 'hackathon' organized by Area Science Park, Elettra Sincrotrone Trieste, INFN Trieste - National Institute of Nuclear Physics. The event, promoted in collaboration with the Attract Young initiative involving some of the leading scientific organizations in Europe and listed among the events in the ESOF Trieste 2020 preparatory process, today and yesterday brought together in the Science Park Area in Padriciano (Trieste) 65 young people, some of them even very young, coming from 15 different countries.

All of them technology fans, but also people with a great sensitivity towards social and environmental issues. Divided into ten groups, they have provided ideas and skills to face and solve with creativity and innovative spirit issues regarding access to culture, misinformation and fake news; environment, security and food, cultural integration against bullying, cancer medical treatment; environmental monitoring, renewable energy, landmines, mobility and water pollution. ''The best projects can be financed through a 20 million euro fund that the European Union, in the framework of Horizon 2020, has made available to the entire Attract program, which includes #AttractYoung'', underlined Sergio Bertolucci, coordinator of the Attract Scientific Committee. The winning team will be rewarded with a five-day visit to CERN in Geneva and to ESRF in Grenoble.(ANSA).
