(ANSA) - BELGRADE, FEBRUARY 12 - The port operator Luka Bar, in Montenegro, is considering building a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal to handle imports of liquefied natural gas from the United States, local media reported today, the specialized portal SeeNews informed.

"The spatial planning documentation for Bar port envisages the development of an LNG terminal, covering an area of 2 hectares," Bar's harbor executive director Vladan Vucelic said, SeeNews reported.

"Earlier this week, Steven Winberg, assistant secretary for fossil energy at the U.S. department of energy, said Bar port has the potential to become a hub for imports of U.S. LNG into Europe," SeeNews added, recalling that Croatia is already building a 233.6 million euro LNG terminal on the island of Krk.
