(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, FEBRUARY 07 - Political leaders from the six Western Balkan countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Kosovo, and Serbia) will meet in Brussels on February 16, at an informal summit with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, The EU Council reported. The recent reform of the European enlargement policy, the EU perspective for the Balkan region, the beginning of the accession negotiations for Albania and Macedonia, and the dialogue between Serbia and Kosovo will be the main issues on the table.

After the informal summit, a meeting of European foreign ministers scheduled on Monday 17 will take place. The participants will discuss the launch of EU negotiations for Albania and North Macedonia. If the enlargement reform proposed by the EU Commission persuaded the most recalcitrant member countries (France and the Netherlands above all), the EU leaders could give the green light at the end of March summit in Brussels.
