(ANSA) - BELGRADE, MAY 31 - The EU enlargement process will
not be a priority for the new European Commission, Slovenia's
president Borut Pahor said. Giving a speech in Budva,
Montenegro, where he 's attending a conference, Pahor stressed
the importance of not diverting attention from the Western
Balkans, which is a 'crucial' region for Europe. Therefore, the
enlargement issue must be "at least at the bottom of the
agenda". "It must be clear to every EU country that the Union's
enlargement to the Western Balkans is actually a geopolitical
issue, which is complex. And precisely for this reason, the
process must continue". A process, he underlined, which is
fundamental to ensure that all the countries in the region enjoy
peace, stability, prosperity. (ANSA).
