Tourism: night spent stronglyincrease in Slovakia, Lithuania

Good results also in the Balkans, in particular Kosovo, Serbia

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 24 JAN - Slovakia and Lithuania registered the highest increase among European Union members of nights spent in tourist accommodation in 2019, new data from Eurostat show.

The number of nights spent in tourist accommodation in 2019 grew in nearly all EU States, with the largest increases being observed in Slovakia (+12.6%) and Lithuania (+10.0%), followed by the Netherlands (+6.8%), the United Kingdom (+5.7%) and Romania (+5.6%), Eurostat said, noting that the only decreases were registered in Greece (-3.0%) and Malta (-2.7%).

A significant increase in nights spent in tourist accommodations in 2019 was registered also in Poland (+5.1%) and Germany (+4.0%), and outside of the EU in Kosovo (+15.5%), Serbia (+6.4%) and North Macedonia (+3.5%).

In 2019, the number of nights spent in tourist accommodation reached approximately 3.2 billion, up by 2.4% compared with 2018, the EU statistical office said. (ANSA).
