University: summer school in Trieste on new technologies

18 students from 11 countries, initiative with Latvian institute

(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 20 AUG - The summer school 'Nonlinear Life', promoted by the university of Trieste and by the Riga Technical University (Latvia), started in Trieste today and will last until August 30. The aim of the initiative is to train specialists in developing new technologies in an international and interdisciplinary environment. Eighteen students from Belorussia, the Czech Republic, India, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Nepal, Poland, Russia, Serbia and Spain are taking part at the third edition of the school, founded by the Riga Technical University and for the first time held in Trieste. The summer school will focus on biomedical engineering, biomaterials, biological sciences and information technology for medicine. Professors from Croatia, Italy, Latvia and Czechia will deliver the lectures, while the student participants will have the possibility of visiting the most important research centers in Trieste, including the synchrotron radiation facility (Elettra), the Italian National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN), the International School for Advanced Studies (Sissa), and the university hospital of Cattinara.
