Eurostat, Romanians most ‘mobile’ workers within the

Strong increase in migration from CEE between 2007 and 2017

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, 28 MAG - Almost one out of five Romanian citizens in working age are residing in another EU member state, the highest 'mobility' rate in the European Union, Eurostat said today.

In 2017, Romanian nationals of working age (20-64 years old) residing abroad within the EU accounted for 19.7% of the population, with the next largest shares recorded in Lithuania (15.0%), Croatia (14.0%), Portugal (13.9%), Latvia (12.9%) and Bulgaria (12.5%), countries far over the EU average of 3.8% (+1.3% compared to 2007).

Eurostat data show a strong increase in migration from Central- and Eastern Europe since 2007 until 2017. Compared with 2007, the share of Romanians living in another EU Member State increased by 12.3%, followed by Latvia (+10%), Lithuania (+9.5%), Bulgaria (8%). (ANSA).
